God Save Our Meme! When Meme is in a pensive mood I always catch her twirling her fingers through her curls, it’s something she like to do; as though it helps her to think. As I’m in a somewhat ‘Jubulous’ mood with the Queen’s Jubilee coming up this weekend I rather thought this image of Meme twirling her fingers through her hair was apt for the occasion as it looks like a salute, and we wanted to salute to our Queen on her 60 years on the throne. Hurray! Meme & I have even been making our very own bunting! All we need now are some some scones and teas and were ready to get this party started! But, between me and you, whilst I do love our Queenie, there’s only one true queen in my eyes and thats my beloved Meme. Meme for queenie! Jubilations to all. Enjoy the festivities this weekend. God Save Our Meme!

When Meme is in a pensive mood I always catch her twirling her fingers through her curls, it’s something she like to do; as though it helps her to think.

As I’m in a somewhat ‘Jubulous’ mood with the Queen’s Jubilee coming up this weekend I rather thought this image of Meme twirling her fingers through her hair was apt for the occasion as it looks like a salute, and we wanted to salute to our Queen on her 60 years on the throne. Hurray!

Meme & I have even been making our very own bunting! All we need now are some some scones and teas and were ready to get this party started!

But, between me and you, whilst I do love our Queenie, there’s only one true queen in my eyes and thats my beloved Meme. Meme for queenie!

Rain Rain Go Away… All this rain is having a positively ghastly effect on my favourite pass times. For a start my walkies have now become squelchies. I have to be most careful walking through puddles you know, they can be deceptively deep and my tummy often gets an unwanted dunk not to mention my poor little paws. I suggest we all refrain from doing any rain dances and wish for sunshine. Grumpy woofs and wet wags, Doug

Rain Rain Go Away…

Pizza for Breakfast? Meme & I have been chobbling the remainders of last night’s pizza bake off. We have been testing out recipes for our café (drool) and I thought I would share a little picture with you.  Excuse my amateur photography skills… I don’t have the luxury of opposable thumbs. Don’t be put off your breakfast by the slugs on this pizza, Meme assures me they are called “anchovies”. I think Slug Pizza sounds delicious! Pizza for Breakfast?

Meme & I have been chobbling the remainders of last night’s pizza bake off. We have been testing out recipes for our café (drool) and I thought I would share a little picture with you. 

Excuse my amateur photography skills… I don’t have the luxury of opposable thumbs.

Don’t be put off your breakfast by the slugs on this pizza, Meme assures me they are called “anchovies”. I think Slug Pizza sounds delicious!

Doug the Detective Dachshund! You would think the fact that Meme has been taking me for lots of walks lately would be cause to celebrate, on the contrary, my nose is twitching with the smell of something fishy going on here.  Firstly, Meme knows that I have only teeny tiny little legs and too much walking makes me huff and puff, so it is highly suspicious that she takes me for more than the usual two a day. Secondly, she’s been getting all dressed up when we go out, she’s not even wearing her Wellington boots anymore, surely this cause is not worth sacrificing her many a scrumptious pair of shoes, or is it? I think I’ve figured her out; she’s looking for her dream man again. Well, I’m not happy about it, no no no.  You must realise, my motives are not entirely selfish (although mainly they are) Meme and I have a business to think about, we’re all hands on deck with starting up our café and we can’t afford to have her off gallivanting around town looking for her dream man. Huff, maybe I shall have to help her sniff out this handsome chap so that we can both get back to work… I’ll let you know what my nose finds. Stay tuned, Woofs and Wags, Doug

Meme in Love Meme and I were enjoying a somewhat delightful stroll in the park today, basking in the unseasonal sunshine when she got chatting to some fellow; about the weather of course. I got bored and somewhat distracted by a particularly ravishing scent under the bush… Before I knew it Meme had scopped me up in her arms and was twirling around and around with me giggling like a school girl, her skirt puffed up like a balloon, then she whispered in my ear that she thought she was in LOVE.  Naturally I assumed she was talking about me… But I have been having a ponder whilst been curled up on Meme’s lap this evening. Could it be that she was actually refering to a Man when she spoke of her affections? Meme in Love

Meme and I were enjoying a somewhat delightful stroll in the park today, basking in the unseasonal sunshine when she got chatting to some fellow; about the weather of course. I got bored and somewhat distracted by a particularly ravishing scent under the bush… Before I knew it Meme had scopped me up in her arms and was twirling around and around with me giggling like a school girl, her skirt puffed up like a balloon, then she whispered in my ear that she thought she was in LOVE. 

Naturally I assumed she was talking about me…

But I have been having a ponder whilst been curled up on Meme’s lap this evening. Could it be that she was actually refering to a Man when she spoke of her affections? Surely not.

I shall have to sniff around for more information.

Sniff, Sniff… Meme gave me a right royal ticking off after I gave into my houndishly greedy desires this evening, hopped onto her chair then onto the table and stole here stack of lovely lemon and sugar drizzled pancakes from the table while her back was turned. She was so angry she wagged her finger at me. I’m so sad for upsetting my dearest Meme, I have even shed a doggy tear for her, I hope she forgives me…but to be honest it’s a little hard to feel too regretful with my tum full of delicious pancakes. Sniff, Sniff…

Meme gave me a right royal ticking off after I gave into my houndishly greedy desires this evening, hopped onto her chair then onto the table and stole here stack of lovely lemon and sugar drizzled pancakes from the table while her back was turned. She was so angry she wagged her finger at me.

I’m so sad for upsetting my dearest Meme, I have even shed a doggy tear for her, I hope she forgives me…but to be honest it’s a little hard to feel too regretful with my tum full of delicious pancakes. Surely, pancake day is all about unnecessary greed, right?

Ssssh Meme and I have a secret…but with Valentines day on the horizon I’m feeling particularly loving so I’ve had my paws on Meme’s laptop all day and have woofed hard to give you a little insight into our big secret plans.. Meme & Doug’s - The ‘Me & My Dog Cafe’. Me and Meme do everything together, we’re best friends and we like to share in the things we enjoy most…but we have all too often been thwarted by the fact that if we wish to sit down for a warming pot of tea and a dog biscuit or two we have nowhere to go but our home. You can image that it’s thirsty work walking around the fashion stores with Meme and I often pine for a place we can go and sit down together, have a chomp, lick and a sip and revel in our days bargains. As there is currently no establishment locally that allows me and my furry companions through it’s doors, Meme and I will be opening up our doors and venturing into the world of business together with our cafe: Meme & Doug’s. Meme being the wondrous being that she is has devised a delicious combination of English & Italian treats for the menu; which have my pooch pallet drooling. I’m absolutely certain you’ll all be wanting to come and taste it all and be part of her British Afternoon Tea and Italian Afternoon Coffee events. If you don’t always have an afternoon free you could pop in for our “Breakfast at Meme’s” mornings and bring along your four legged friend. Our cafe will be dog friendly in all senses, not only will we be an establishment which allows dogs to accompany their owners while they enjoy some time with us and even flick through our Dog Menu, but we will also be working with local dog charities and working hard to raise awareness and attempt to help with the re-homing of pooches who are in need of forever homes in the area with our ‘House a Hound’ days. Me and Meme do everything together, we’re best friends and we like to share in the things we enjoy most…but we have all too often been thwarted by the fact that if we wish to sit down for a warming pot of tea and a dog biscuit or two we have nowhere to go but our home.

You can image that it’s thirsty work walking around the fashion stores with Meme and I often pine for a place we can go and sit down together, have a chomp, lick and a sip and revel in our days bargains.


As there is currently no establishment locally that allows me and my furry companions through it’s doors, Meme and I will be opening up our doors and venturing into the world of business together with our cafe: Meme & Doug’s.


Meme being the wondrous being that she is has devised a delicious combination of English & Italian treats for the menu; which have my pooch pallet drooling. I’m absolutely certain you’ll all be wanting to come and taste it all and be part of her British Afternoon Tea and Italian Afternoon Coffee events. If you don’t always have an afternoon free you could pop in for our “Breakfast at Meme’s” mornings and bring along your four legged friend.


Our cafe will be dog friendly in all senses, not only will we be an establishment which allows dogs to accompany their owners while they enjoy some time with us and even flick through our Dog Menu, but we will also be working with local dog charities and working hard to raise awareness and attempt to help with the re-homing of pooches who are in need of forever homes in the area with our ‘House a Hound’ days.

I believe it depicts that fateful day when I made Meme cry by giving in once again to my houndish desires and nibbling, ok downright chomping, on her designer shoes. Gulp, I hope I stay forgiven.
